Classes and Workshops

The
Actor in You Series -- (ages 6 to adult)
Success through mastery of skill as opposed to success through
performance. Students will be working on a progression of avtivities
focussed on developing skills in the student/actor rather than on
performance. The idea/goal is to reach each student on their level and
focus and encourage them to flourish during the 10 week session.
LEVEL 1: The First Steps (ages 6-8)
LEVEL 2: Starting to Play (ages 9-11)
LEVEL 3: Learning the Role (ages 12+)
LEVEL 4: The Art of Being (highschool ages)
LEVEL 5: Remembering to Play (adult)
Imagination
on Stage -- (ages 6–12)
An introduction to imagination and its use in theatre. Your child will
use
imagination and improvisation to explore theatre games with other
children,
building confidence and stage presence. Tryouts for a play will give
your
child a chance to experience being in a play that he or she will work
on
during the class. You'll have a chance to enjoy what your child has
explored
as the class presents the play for family and friends on the final day.
In
the Spotlight -- (ages 6th grade-high
school)
An introduction to the techniques used by professional actors. Your
child
will experiment with the popular Stanislavski method applied to a scene
or
monologue worked on in class. Scenes will be presented on the last day
of
class.
Magic
of Makeup -- (ages 14 to adult)
Tools and techniques of the trade. Any actor should be familiar with
stage
makeup and how to transform oneself with it. Learn how to create looks
from
youth to age, realistic to fanciful, special effect such as cuts,
bruises,
scars, etc. The class runs one week, three hours a day.
Imagination
for Adults -- (ages 18 and up)
Imagination and
improvisation use to explore improvisational activities, as well as
taking a
look at the popular Stanislavski methods applied to scenes and
monologues.
Keeping
it Fresh -- (some theatre skills required)
Through
this membership based group, actors and actresses of varying levels
have
a place to regularly get together to share experiences, work on
personal
challenges or those from current projects, receive constructive
criticism,
prepare for auditions, and receive input from other actors.
Acting Your Song -- (ages 10 to adult)
A
hands on class where a performer will learn to sell their song.
Students
will learn to recognize what types of songs best fit their voice and
style
for an audition as well as having a chance to work on and perform a
character,
ballad, up tempo/comedy, and musical theatre scene while learning how
to
analyze and apply acting techniques to sell their songs.
At
the Foot of the Cross -- (dependant upon
cast)
Touring
troupe presenting Biblical, moral, or ethical plays. In
this class students will rehearse a current moral,
ethical, or biblical play and take the show on the road to a number of
locations. Minimal cost, possible fundraising and sponsorship.
Stage Combat
The basics of stage combat focusing on safety.
Introduction
to Tech
An introduction to theatre tech including basic lighting.
Building
a Set
A basic introduction to designing and building a set.
