Opportunities to Perform
The
mission of Dare to Dream is to provide quality affordable theatre
education to people of all ages and backgrounds, while giving them a
chance to benefit from life skills learned through theatre and
opportunities to perform. Therefore, we are pleased to unveil our
performing series.
The Academy Series runs in conjunction with every semester of
“The
Actor in You” allowing students in the classes, as well as
youth in the
community, to work together to put on a show. Kids will practice the
skills they are learning in class alongside children from the community
who are interested in improving their performing skills.
The Storybook Series provides affordable theater experiences for
families with young children through a series of productions geared for
the youngest audiences. Participation plays and tours to schools and
libraries, provide new and experienced actors opportunities to perform
for some of the most impressionable audiences.
The Mainstage Series provides audiences and actors with award winning
dramatic and children’s literature. Casts of both youth and
adults work
together to bring the best children’s literature to life on
the stage.

The Latest from Dare to Dream
From initiating the Actor in You Series to preparing for the first
all-children production of "Rags
to Riches", to booking the summer
sessions, much has kept the staff of Dare to Dream busy this past month!
On March 4th, 33 children arrived for the first session of The Actor in
you. Level one, which has reached maximum enrollment, keeps Zachary
Lulloff, Christy Zimmerman, and Rachel Elizabeth on their toes with
fast-paced energy and many different personalities and learning styles.
In Level two, eight students have begun the journey into the world of
imagination with many ideas and amazing energy. In the third level, six
students are learning what it takes to be an actor by working on scenes
from classical literature such as "Little Women", "The
Adventures of Tom Sawyer", and "The Diary of Anne
Frank". Some of the energetic children will perform at the
Manitowoc Kids Expo on April 22 at 3:15 pm. Come see us there!
On April 1st, we will welcome children from the community to attend the
Pre-Audition Workshop for Rags to Riches. With a cast of 20-40 actors,
Rags to Riches is a collection of fairy tales spotlighting the talents
of children aged 6-15. Stories include Cinderella, Snow White, Dancing
Princesses, and Sleeping Beauty. Auditions will be held on April 3rd
from 4:30-6:30 pm at the Mirro Auditorium in the Manitowoc County
Historical Society. Interested in Auditioning? Contact Rachel at daretodreamtheatre@msn.com.
Looking for summer programs? Dare to Dream will be offering sessions in
Manitowoc through the Park and Rec department as well as at the capitol
Civil Centre Studios, Lake County Academy in Sheboygan, The Modjeska
Youth Theater, and Wisconsin Lutheran College in Milwaukee. All
children are welcome. Financial Assistance may be available in some
cases.
